Welcome to the Cornwall Golf History
Golf For One and All
Welcome to Cornwall Golf History, an introduction by Andrew Clotworthy, President CGU
As someone born and brought up in Cornwall, I am hugely respectful of the heritage Cornwall boasts and that also relates to golf. The purpose of this new Cornwall Golf Union site to bring the history of golf in Cornwall alive and ensure we build a living memory of clubs, both past and present ( who remembers clubs at St Creed and Bodmin?) the players, the characters and achievements.
Over the months to come you will see this site grow, as we filter articles that we feel will interest not just golfers in Cornwall, but anyone looking to find out more about Cornwall.
Currently, we are collating a vast array of pictures, articles, even video which we aim to make live by the end of June. In the meantime, may I encourage you all to send through to
contact@cornwallgolfhistory.org.uk anything you believe will be of general interest. In particular, the history of golf in the early years and newspaper cuttings or club news on some of the characters, that are sadly no longer with us, but not forgotten.
The new site will have a link to every affiliated club in Cornwall for its history and contact details. Therefore, not only will we be able to showcase our history, but also the array of golf available in the County.
Much more to come and I look forward to sharing our history and ensuring we never lose our roots.
Very best
Andrew Clotworthy
